Merino wool is a natural fibre known for exceptional softness and durability, making it an excellent choice for little ones. With moisture-wicking, hypoallergenic and thermoregulating properties, Merino wool keeps your baby cosy whilst being gentle on delicate skin. Additionally, as a biodegradable and renewable material, Merino wool is a sustainable choice. Choose Merino wool for comfort that cares.
Fire Safety
This product complies with the Product Safety Standard (Children’s Nightwear and Limited Daywear Having Reduced Fire Hazard) Regulations 2016 and Safety Standard AS/NZS 1249:2014 (Children's Nightwear and Limited Daywear having Reduced Fire Hazard).
Can my baby sleep in a hat?
Hats are not recommended as sleepwear. Heat escapes from a baby through their head. Keeping a hat on all night may lead to overheating. If you are worried about your baby being cold, make sure they have enough layers on. Hats can also be a suffocation hazard.
Washing and Care
Caring for merino is easy, but important to get right!
Washing
- Machine or hand wash at 40°C max (low spin speed for blankets)
- Use a wool-approved liquid detergent
- Close any zips before washing
- Turn the garment inside out to reduce pilling
- Place in a delicates wash bag if you have one
Avoid using laundry powder, soaking, bleaching, wringing, dry cleaning, or stain removers, as these practices can accelerate the biodegradation of Merino, causing holes.
Drying
- We recommend air-drying merino.
- Avoid using a tumble dryer, as it can reduce the fabric's soft feel and may cause shrinkage.
Additionally, keep it out of direct sunlight to prevent any fading or discolouration.
Storing
- Storing merino correctly is important to keep it safe from moths, mould, dust, and general wear and tear.
- Vacuum closets/drawers regularly and store with Cedar Moth Balls.
Stain removal
- Never soak or bleach merino or use stain removal sprays- even if you develop a stain.
- To remove stains on merino, carefully dab the area with a cloth covered in a wool-approved detergent. Follow up by washing your merino as usual and the stain should come out.
Odour removal
- Merino wool's moisture-wicking properties makes it naturally odour-resistant.
- Odours often vanish on their own, but if needed, air out by hanging, lay flat on a towel to rest, or hang in a steamy bathroom to refresh.
The less your merino item is washed the longer it will last.
