Do you need a Moses basket for your newborn baby?

Moses basket provide a cosy and snug space for your child to sleep for the first couple of weeks as they provide cosy and reassuring confined space for your child.

The Moses basket provide a light, portable and a natural option to a bassinet. Your baby needs to sleep somewhere that's safe, warm, and not too far from you. Moses’ baskets are light and easy to move from one room to another. If your preference is to have your baby close to you.

A Moses basket, co-sleeper or a bassinet can take up much less space than a cot, meaning it’s easier to fit next to your bed, on a rocking stand or even on the floor. This is one of the main reasons some parents opt to use one.

Another reason some parents buy a Moses basket, or a bassinet (or Co-Sleeper) is because they feel their newborn looks a bit small and ‘lost’ in a cot. A Moses basket can provide a sense of security and closeness.

However, it’s not essential that your newborn sleep in a bassinet or a Moses basket. It’s fine for a newborn to use a cot from birth. Moses baskets provide a temporary, convenient option. As a rough guideline, its recommended that a Moses basket be used for babies up to the age of 3 months (or 9Kgs).

Always prioritize safety when choosing a sleeping arrangement for your baby, ensuring that the sleep environment is free from hazards and follows recommended SIDS guidelines for infant sleep safety.
